Sapha Burnell – UsurperKings

“Sapha is like a young Wolfgang Pauli, in every laboratory he went, there was a little explosion.” Cyberpunk/magic realism author and poet Sapha Burnell’s works (Usurper Kings, Son of Abel & Neon Lieben) were dubbed “jaw-droppingly beautiful”, “an insane, diabolical, kick-ass rollercoaster” and “hauntingly beautiful”. Literary critic Ella J said of Neon Lieben, “I never thought a science fiction story could be so beautiful”. Sapha writes on the interlock between mysticism, mythology and science with a pugilist’s eye. The product of Vancouver’s multiculturalism, Sapha steeped in divergent cultures, religious experiences and gender roles, until battling with traditional opinions became a daily war. On hiatus from the written word, she volunteered in West Africa, and returned to Canada with an international perspective. As an editor & literary theorist, Sapha’s work focuses on comparative mythology & the ethics of futurism. On Twitch, Sapha critiques prose twice a week, and writes online once. A member of The Writers Union of Canada, Sapha lives in BC with their spouse and speaks on gender roles, cyberpunk, martial arts, comparative mythology, wine education and religion, when the #hallowesfam isn’t chatting it up on discord or twitch.

31 Days AHEAD!

Oh, the wonderful things we plan as the world continues to spin. It’s great to see the growth and excitement so many have for 31 days. I hate that as the organizer, I’ve been badly distracted. There is still much to do and little time to do it.

As we are getting into 31 days 31 stories I am going to be excited about some of the things coming up. We have a lot of wonderful YouTubers and Twitter’s joining the streaming of 31 days. I will provide you with a write-up on all of them so keep your eyes out for previews and updates and information so that you can get to know the streamers that will be sharing and supporting the 31 days community.

If you are joining us for the adventure and fun head, you can visit http://Inexhaustible.media/31-stories to get signed up.

31 Days Writing Challenge

Prompts will begin on Friday. There will be two prompts in each post. There may also be a video posted on YouTube. I will post here a list of streamers that you can look for and follow for support during this writing event. Please continue to engage with the streamers as you need to.

If you have not gotten your 31 days guide book which is available on this site and through TheLadyWrites stream, you will be able to get it in the Discord.

If you are looking for the guidebook go to 31 resources in the Discord.

You will also find streamers that are support streamers. These streamers are not actually writing for 31 short stories but they do know the rules and have a guidebook. They are able to assist those who might need help with the actual writing process. These people are an asset and available if you want to visit their streams.

One streaming example is TheTigerWrites

While we typically have a launch event, unfortunately 31 days in January this year will not have a major streaming launch event. There is a plethora of things going on around it and we are searching for a way to celebrate. I’m open to suggestions.

For all of those still looking for an email that I meant to send out a week ago, hopefully this works. I owe all of you an apology. I did not intend to get this backed up. We are getting things back on track as we go.

There will be a weekly wrap-up. An opportunity for streamers and writers to share their work, talk about their week with 31 days, and answer questions. Should something come up in the conversations and you would like to discuss it, please don’t hesitate to mention it to me prior to our weekly wrap-up.

The weekly wrap-up and all of our streamers are hosted through Inexhaustible Media on Twitch. If you are not following that channel, please do so now. This will be your streaming source of information for 31 days.

See you there!

31 Days Wrap Up

31 days Wrap Up!

First off – everyone who took part successfully moved the needle on what they finished. This is huge for an author. Congratulations! You should be proud of yourself. I know I’m really excited for you.

This last month at our weekly wrap-ups we did giveaways.

The first week was an Edit – this edit is for a single short story during the month of September. That award went to MiyaWrites. You should visit her stream channel. You’ll love it there.

The second week was for a year subscription to 4TheWords – that award went to TheUniqueLee who kindly contributed some accountability tools for the whole team! Such a wonderful support gift.

The third week was for a premade book cover from GoOnWrite.com – They are incredible cover designers. – Licia who creates really intense worlds, won the cover. I am going to enjoy seeing them released into the world.

Our last award was a bundle of all three. That was awarded on the 31st to UncleToBen – he runs a family fun variety channel usually, but was happy to step in and do more writing streams than his usual once a week while he was accomplishing 31 stories in 31 days.

All of our streamers have been wonderful. We can thank so many who stepped in and stayed on schedule for the event. Special mentions:

CoffeeQuills wrote without prompts, but created a full short story daily.

Angsthase used the prompts, created a story a day, and filled in a lot of empty slots. Thank you for taking on so many extra hours!

Belldandy245 and MiyaWrites both stepped in to fill gaps and help ensure our 31 days authors could find a 31 days streamer during the day.

NursingGeek was kind enough to begin her writing streamer career during the challenge to help keep the momentum going.

We’ve got so many others I am likely going to miss in this blog post, but thank you all for streaming and chatting and writing at your pace. Every minute you shared this event, the community felt your support.

In the future- Watch for the InExhaustible Media Twitch channel and YouTube. We’ll have that in place before our next event in January. That’ll be where the whole 31 days streamers will be shared for all to see. Currently, the plan will include hosting a regular schedule video that will play the schedule of our known streamers and how to find them on twitch. It will also share some book trailers if you’re looking for a good book to read, and a variety of additional things to provide value to our writing community.

For streamers, they can look forward to orientation some time in December to prep for the January event. That’ll be fun too. I’m looking forward to ‘meeting’ all of you in Discord before we start writing like madmen.

Also watch for 31 Tales – a Charity Magazine filled with incredible writing for all to enjoy!

The fourth quarter is going to be amazing.

I can’t wait to share more with you as we go along. Keep Writing.
